There are a few things you should know about the next exercise. If you feel lightheaded or a heart problem, do not do these exercises. If you begin doing these exercises and get lightheaded STOP right away. Also DO NOT do these exercises one week after receiving your feeding tube. If you aren’t sure about any of these things please ask your nurse, doctor or speech pathologist about whether these are safe for you.

Here’s a tip for this exercise. Only hold this position for 1 second. Again, please do not hold this position for more than 1 second.

While holding your breath, push your hands together for 1 second. Then breathe out to relax. If you like you can push down on the arms of the chair while holding your breathe.
